E.C.S.C. Summer loses 1-3 to Aramis Galactics

The result of last night’s match was rather predictable, reflecting the players’ LFS rankings. Daniel (C2) came back from a set down to win 3-1 against his D1 opponent. Pierre (D3) struggled against a D2 opponent, losing 0-3. Likewise Tim (D3) lost 0-3 to a D3 opponent ranked 42 positions ahead of him. Nick (D4) made a strong start, winning the first game, before losing 1-3 to his D3 opponent.

Summer interclubs

The LFS interclubs d’été have started. ECSC is fielding one team (E.C.S.C. Summer) in Group A of Division 3. We started with an honourable 2-2 draw against City III (Pierre and Gavin winning their matches), but in our second match we went down 0-4 to Symbio 3.

ECSC 1’s penultimate match of the season

Thursday night’s penultimate match of the season for ECSC 1 was remarkable for two things: the worst and most perfect squash bruise ever seen in the annals of the ECSC, inflicted on the back of Frank’s thigh; and perhaps even more remarkably, a victory for Gavin Evans. The less said about Enrique’s, Rob’s and Frank’s defeats the better (although clearly in Frank’s case there were mitigating circumstances).

ECSC 2 wins final match of season

ECSC 2 won 3-1 against Symbio 3 in the final match of the 2018-2019 season. Mitch cruised to victory 3-0 (11-5, 11-7, 11-4) against Luciano. Jean-Luc had a harder fight against Jérémy, but prevailed 3-1 (12-10, 11-5, 9-11, 11-9). Pierre Dybman lost a closely fought battle against Hedi 0-3 (7-11, 14-16, 12-14). Tim dropped a game against Joel, winning 3-1 (11-6, 11-13, 11-8, 11-8).

We’re now looking forward to playing in the summer interclubs.

Summer interclubs

ECSC fielded a team in Division 3 of the LFS summer interclubs. A match was scheduled every Thursday evening from 19 April to 28 June (except 10 & 17 May), with the final three matches to be played on Saturday 30 June. The match on Thursday 28 June clashed with the England-Belgium World Cup match, and was rescheduled for Friday! We fielded a full team of four players for every match, drawing on a pool of twelve players (Frank Beaver, Daniel Petrilak, Mitch Ward, Pierre Dybman, Gert Rammeloo, John Riksten, Gavin Evans, Tim Cooper, Rob Peters, Nick Mac Gowan, Jens Fischer & Simon Smith), and finished mid-table (4th out of 7).

In 2017-2018 ECSC fielded 3 interclub teams (in divisions 4, 6 & 7) and two inter-company teams (in divisions 1 & 3). In 2018-2019 ECSC will field 2 interclub teams and 1 inter-company team. If you’d like to join one of our teams, please contact Mitch Ward.
