Many thanks to all the players, who have contributed to this year’s Div1 Intersoc team, which results in a battling 6th place in the first Division and thus with a stable continuation therein for the next season.
For the overall results, keep an eye on:
Yesterday evening was a great night for our team!
We won 4-0 and 14 points to 4 against SWIFT 2.
We had a strong team composed of Eric, Kevin, Christof and Babis while our opponent were missing their usual #2 player.
Babis was mostly in control, mixing long shots and superb drop shots, and dropped just one game on his way to a comfortable win. Christof too was in total control and duly won 3-0. Kevin won a thrilling 1st set 17-15 and eventually won 3-1 in a match with plenty of errors on both sides. Finally Eric, played the match of the night. He won the 2 first sets against a extremely fit player, only too loose the next 2. He then found the energy and the focus needed to eventually prevailed in the decider. Well done!
This result should leave us in the middle of the ranking at half season. So everything is still possible.
For your agenda our next match is on 12 January 18:00 Castle club.
I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy 2016.
Yesterday evening, Tuesday 10 November, our team had a heavy defeat 0-4 and 3 points to 14 against a very strong Castle 1.
Our team was composed of Kevin, Christof, Manuel and Petr.
Kevin, playing as #1, had a tough match against another very fit opponent but still managed to snatch a set, eventually losing 1-3. Christof fought hard against a 16 year old teenager in a very close match but finally run out of steam and lost in 5 sets. Manuel was never far behind his opponent in another disputed match but unfortunately lost in straights sets. Finally Petr playing as #4, who was kindly replacing Robert injured, kept improving each sets but also lost in straights sets to a better player.
Next match should be easier ; )
For your agendas our next match (6th round) will take place on
Tuesday 24 November 20:00 at Castle Club (Wezembeek) against Bridgestone 1.
Last Tuesday 6 Oct. our team won 3-1 and 11 points to 5 against ENGIE 2.
Our team was composed of Eric, Kevin, Christof and Robert.
Unfortunately our opponent were only 3 so we had to drop a player (votre serviteur).
Eric, for his 1st match since at least a couple of month and his first with ECSC, won a thrilling 5 “seters”. Christof caught his opponent cold and did not give him any chance to get back into the match winning in straight sets. Finally Robert, playing as #3, probably faced the best player of the night and could do little to prevent his very athletic opponent to win 3-0.
This provisionally leaves us in 5th position: www.squashintersoc.be
We continued to play for fun for about half an hour. I tried to beat Robert’ opponent but lost 10-12, 9-11, 9-11. We finished the evening with a couple of drinks at the bar.
For your agendas our next match (4th round already) will take place on
Tuesday 20 October 20:00 at Winners against AG Insurance 1.
Last week, ECSC lost 1-3, and 4 to 12 points to Solvay but we were closer than the score line suggest.
Petr won in straight sets. Robert and Manuel, for his 1st match for ECSC, both had very disputed matches but eventually lost in straight sets. I won the 1 set only for my opponent to wake-up and win the next 3 sets. Had Christof been able to play I think we would have had at least a draw.
Most importantly the atmosphere was nice and we did even play some more squash after.
Next Tuesday 6 Oct. we are playing against ENGIE 2 20:00 at Winners.
On 21st April ECSC 3 won all 4 matches, 4-0 and 14 points to 2.
Christof and Jaime both won 3-1 while Paul and Petr received a bye.
That makes a lot of points and will most likely shoot ECSC3 up from the last place!
One week later on 28 April, ECSC 2 lost heavily to a strong Belfius 1, 1-3 and 3 points to 13.
Our mighty number 1 player Pedro lost 1-3 to a fitter Philippe Fievet. John came back from the brink of defeat, trailing 0-2, to win the next 3 sets against a very tricky opponent. His opponent was so frustrated to have lost such a tense match that he smashed his racket to the floor after the match. Kevin had a close match but nevertheless lost in straight sets. Jaime also lost 0-3 to a better player.
ECSC 2 finishes the season at the 6th place out of 8 while ECSC 3 finishes in 8th place out of 9.
These matches close a difficult 2014-2015 season. Throughout the season both teams have battled against relegation and struggled to find enough team mates.
Thanks a lot to all the participants.
Yesterday evening, 24 March 2015, ECSC 2 had a good win against Eurocontrol, 12 points to 7 while ECSC 3 unfortunately had to forfeit against Vinalgros.
Pedro, playing as #1 player, was leading 2-0 against Don when he got really tired. Of course Don then started to play better forcing a decider. Pedro raised his level again, as he has done so many time this season, and clinched a great win after a fabulous match by both players. Congratulations! John controlled his match against Kim and clinically won in straight sets. I lost, again, 1-3 to a very dynamic Vitor. Finally Christof was made to sweat a lot but he eventually prevailed in 5 sets and inflicted a first defeat of the season to Tanguy.

On 10 March 2015, ECSC 2 had their first 4-0 win of the season against a weak AG Insurance 1, 14 point to 1 : )))
On the same evening ECSC 3 lost 1-3 and 5 points to 11 to GDF Suez 2.
Nick saved the honour with a great win in straights sets.
