Intersoc – 11th round results & next match

Yesterday evening, 3 March 2015, ECSC 2 had a draw against ING1, 8 point to 8 while ECSC 3 had a solid win against Bridgestone, 3-1 and 13 points to 5.

ECSC 2’s draw is not a bad result considering that ING 1 is playing with played ranked A, which limits our maximum points available to 11.
Pedro played superbly but could do nothing against Leo. John prevailed 3-1 against the ever tricky Stéphane, even breaking a racket in frustration. Leigh kindly accepted to help us and duly won 3-0. Kevin lost 1-3 against Patrick.

ECSC 3 was helped by the absence of Bridgestone #1 player and, as a result, the forfeit of their #4 player. Christof came back from 2 sets down to level the match 2-2 but then run out of steam against Laurent, a player not to be underestimated. Paul smacked the ball hard as ever and won comfortably 3-0. Petr had a tougher match but eventually won with his guts in 5 sets.

Intersoc – 10th round results & next match

Yesterday evening, 3 February, both teams had convincing wins.

ECSC 2 won 3-1 and 13 points to 7 against a weakened GDF SUEZ 1.
Pedro dropped a game on the way to a comfortable win. John came from the brick of defeat, trialling 0-2, to eventually win 3-2 against a very talented Alicia. Mitch kindly accepted to help us a won 3-1. Kevin was leading 2-0 but could not resist the return of his opponent, losing is 5 sets.

ECSC 3 had their best line-up so far of the season, with Simon, Christof, Jaime, and Petr, and duly won 3-1, 12 points to 6.
Simon had a tough match but prevailed 3-2. Christof reversed the score of his previous match to win 3-0. Jaime came back from Barcelona to win 3-1 while Petr lost but managed to get a game under his belly.

As a result ECSC 2 is now in 6th position while ECSC 3 is in 7th position in the 1st and 2nd division respectively: www.squashintersoc.be

Intersoc – 9th round results & next match

Yesterday evening, 27 January, ECSC 2 had a draw, 8 points to 9, against NATO 1. Pedro came through a difficult match and won in the 5th sets. John was very solid against a less experienced but very fit opponent and won 3-0. Kevin lost 1-3 to a very sympathetic French speaking Canadian player. Sadly we had to forfeit the last match otherwise we could have won.

ECSC 3 had a good line-up but still lost heavily, 0-4 and 3 points to 14, against the current leader of the 2nd division. Simon managed to snatch a set, while Christof, back from long time injury, lost in straight sets for his first match. Petr fought like a lion but eventually lost 2-3, Max did run a lot as usual but lost in straight sets.
On a positive note, I am convinced that if we manage to repeat the same line-up over and over again, we will win matches!

Intersoc – 7th round results & next match

The 1st part of the season continues to prove very difficult for both ECSC teams with some important players injured/absent and ECSC 3 playing one division too high.

Last Tuesday 2 Dec. 2014, ECSC 2 lost 1-3, 7 points to 12, to a very good Belfius 1, the current co-leader of the division.  Pedro, solid as a rock, won his match 3-1 while John lost in five sets to an inspired played. Fred, who kindly agreed to help us as #1 player, and Jaime, both lost 1-3.

ECSC 3 with only 3 players lost 0-4, 1 point to 14 to Solvay. Kevin, on a loan from the 2nd team managed to get only a set. Petr and Max fought valiantly but played against opponents too strong for them.

Intersoc – 6th round results & next match

Last Monday 17 Nov. ECSC 3  crashed 0-4 and 1-14 against Vinalgros. A team which managed to beat ECSC 2 last season in the 1st division!
Max valiantly saved our honour with a set while Jaime, Petr, and Edwin all lost in straights sets.

On Tuesday 18 Nov. ECSC 2  had a draw against our friends of Eurocontrol.
Pedro won easily 3-1 against Don while John also won by the same score line but had to sweat a lot more against Leigh. Paul, on a loan from the 3rd team, managed to get a set from Tanguy. Finally Kevin could have won the match. He came back from a 2 sets deficit to force a decider, had a match point but eventually lost to Jens 9-10 in the final set.

Intersoc – 4th round results

ECSC 2, with only 3 players, lost heavily to ING 1, 1 point to 14.
It was mission imposible for John against an A ranked player. Kevin had a close match against the player “with the baseball cap” but eventually lost 1-3. Finally Nick had no chance against too strong player and lost in straight sets.

ECSC 3 had a draw against a good Bridgestone team.
Simon lost in straight sets against a very good #1 player. Edwin put up a great fight but eventually lost 1-3 to a more experienced player.
On the other hand Petr won his match brillantly 3-1 and Maximilien got his 1st win of the season with a hard fought 3-2 victory. Well done!

Pedro and John were strong as always and won in straight sets while Jaime and I lost in straight sets.

ECSC 3 with only 2 players also had a draw against BNP Paribas 1. Maximilien managed to get a set while Paul lost in straight sets. We should normally receive 2 forfeit for the 2 other matches.

Intersoc – 2nd round results

Last Tuesday ECSC 2 had a draw against NATO, 7 points to 10. Pedro fought brilliantly from 2 sets down to win his match. John played very well against a “military” fit opponent. Jaime’s opponent was just too strong and I was just not fit enough against a 55 something year old player…

On Wednesday ECSC 3 lost to TOTAL, 5 points to 13. Only Edwin, our newcomer, saved our honour, winning his 3-2 in a closely fought encounter while Nick went down 2-3.

Our next matches already take place next week:

  • ECSC 2 will play GDF SUEZ 1 on Wed. 1 Oct. 18:30 at Castle Club.
  • ECSC 3 will play against BNP Paribas 1 on Wed. 1 Oct. 18:30 at Winners.

Please note that both matches will take place on a Wednesday.

Intersoc – 1st round results

Last night saw ECSC 2, the 2013-2014 champion, take on the winner of the 2nd division AXA. It was a tough match. Without Pedro and with Artur slightly injured we managed a good draw. Kevin and Jaime won 3-1 while Artur and John lost 1-3. The hero of the night was Jaime who won against a skilled female opponent, 40 years younger than him.

For their 1st match of the season ECSC 3 got a good training. Their opponent, SWIFT, gave us a bye on the morning if the match. On the positive side the team got 14 easy points against what could have been a tough team to beat.

Next match:

  • ECSC 2 will play against NATO on 23 Sept. 18:30 at the NATO sport facilities.
  • ECSC 3 will play against TOTAL on 24 Sept. 19:00 at Winners. Please note that it’s a Wednesday.
